Make Music Winter, a free, outdoor music-making celebration held each Dec. The all-day musical celebration on the winter solstice brings together New Yorkers of all ages, musical abilities and genres to sing, play, march and dance their way across streets, parks, plazas and other public spaces citywide. All Make Music Winter events are free and open to the public. Make Music Winter, having completed its sixth year in , is a free, outdoor musical celebration each December 21 that turns audiences into musical makers. The NAMM Foundation works to advance active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs.

Make Music NY will take place on the longest day of the year June 21st. Make Music NY consists of turning public spaces into performance venues that represent various cultures and musical styles in the world. The street fest has been running for over a decade and it just keeps getting bigger and better. It starts at ten in the morning and goes on until ten at night. Any genre you can think of will perform at some point or another during the day. The musical movement was founded in and later spread to other cities throughout Europe and around the world. It has since then redefined the concept of music and how it binds us all together every summer solstice. Musicians of all ages and levels are welcome to put on their own show and share it with the world.

This is not a typical appeal for support to help Make Music New York launch a special project or take on a new initiative. When a Make Music New Yorker musician wants to present an amplified concert, we must secure a sound permit from the City of New York to make their wish come true. We have already procured half of the permits required for June 21st, but still need an additional permits for outdoor locations in all five boroughs.
